Flaming Filigrana Rooster Bead

I have been on a flaming color kick lately. ?  This cool blue rooster was made using one of my favorite glass types. It is called filigrana, and it is – like most of the glass I use – from Italy. Filigrana glass has a color core wrapped in clear. (For details and history, see: https://www.cmog.org/glass-dictionary/filigrana)

The filigrana glass that I used for this piece is a white core, then cobalt, then clear. This makes the most beautiful flowy ribbon! It is a struggle to photograph though because the clear depth is ‘flattened’ by the photo and the beautiful blue gets reflected and distorted. The 3D effect of the floating ribbon is something to see in real life.

The tail is a fiery mix of yellow-orange-red.
